Kingdom Kids Adoption Ministries

Kingdom Kids Adoption Ministries was established by Steve and Michelle Gardner in 2001 out of their desire to encourage the body of Christ to see adoption as a ministry.  We believe that the body of Christ needs to be challenged to care for orphans.  However, we have seen too many families enter the world of adoption unprepared for the issues they will likely face as they help their new children adjust.  We have developed intensive training programs to help prepare families for adoption.

Kingdom Kids also helps families raise finances for adoption by developing a support team committed to praying for and contributing to adoption expenses.  Many families rely on Kingdom Kids’ adoption and parenting resources and training to prepare them for adoption and help them raise their adopted children.

Steve and Michelle are the parents of twelve children, nine of whom are adopted.  Their sons Peter and Aaron are 24 and 22, and are both out of the home (both working in the area of Customer Relations).  Their daughter Susannah is 19 and a sophomore at Multnomah Bible University.  Rebekah, now 19, was adopted from China at age 5.  Deborah, now 16, came from Russia at age 4.  John, now 16, was adopted from India at the age of 9.  Andrew, age 13, and Dinah, age 5, were adopted in the spring of 2004 from Ethiopia.  Julia, age 13, was adopted from Ethiopia in August, 2005.   In August 2006 Steve and Michelle Gardner traveled to Ethiopia to bring home three new children.  Philip, age eleven, Nathanael, age ten and Leah, age five are all from the Soddo region of Ethiopia.  All three are making a wonderful adjustment to their new life in America.  That brings the Gardners up to twelve children.  And you know what they say, "Cheaper by the Dozen!!!"  Several of the adopted children have significant medical needs.

Steve was a pastor to children and families for four years and has been an elementary school teacher for twenty years and currently teaches sixth grade in the Mead (Washington) School District.  Michelle was also a teacher prior to having children.  They served as missionaries in Cote d’Ivoire and in Taiwan with CBInternational for several years.  Michelle has served as Executive Director of Kingdom Kids since its inception.
